A sort-of-quickie featuring two of my characters I haven't really started developing until recently.
The large mechanical one is actually the star of the first drawing I ever posted on this profile: cutter9792.deviantart.com/art/…
The one at his business end is Allison, his rider/pilot. The story is that his back opens up to allow her inside. The rider in question lies in a seat very similar to the Batpod from the Dark Knight Trilogy, giving her a stable position to control his direction and weapons from. Danny still has full ability to move himself and fire his weapons, but Allison keeps him going in the right direction.
[Work in Progress] Backstory: Allison was a young helicopter pilot in the American Army serving in Iraq [before everything going on in the country went to shit]. Her Black Hawk was shot down over a desert area in Tikrit while returning to base and violently crashed into the sand. Her crew she was transporting died instantly, while she suffered a few broken bones and internal bleeding. After crawling about a mile from the crash site, away from her attackers, she stumbled [or kinda shuffled on top of] a slightly buried Danny. Upon her fingers touching his exoskeleton, he recognized the touch as living and in need of help and activated- just in time to greet Allison's attackers that had caught up to her.
He made short work of them [With no weapons besides his sharp teeth and claws.]
After dealing with her assailants, Danny loaded Allison into his cockpit to heal her with his build-in first aid tech. Due to the strange nature of said technology's origin, it replaced several [rather important] internal parts she needed. It was only when he carried her back to her station that the engineers and medics realized two simultaneous issues:
One, that the giant mechanical kitty in question was not of a discernible origin and contained advanced engineering not consistent with any modern terrestrial capabilities. This provided two more problems when the engineers wanted to strip him down and see how he works. Firstly that he wasn't built with normal tools in mind, and
Two, The prosthetic technology in question used to heal Allison was charged solely by Danny's systems and did not accept any earthly means to power it. Her replacement parts did not have a terrestrial equivalent either, meaning that she couldn't be updated with Earth technology and be powered by a source other than Danny himself.
So, Allison and Danny have a bit of a symbiotic relationship. Danny relies on Allison as his guide in a strange world he's unfamiliar with, and she relies on his systems to NOT DIE. He's her wheelchair/iron lung.
Danny's origin will remain a mystery for now, but he's certainly not military issued. He has had some military weapons and armor added onto him [as seen above] to assist in his and Allison's excursions.
